Patti Black

Patti Black has over 20 years experience working with non-profit, government, Aboriginal and community development organizations in a variety of management, communications, planning and consulting roles. Prior to joining Consilium in 2001, she co-founded a popular national environmental magazine, was Executive Director of the Elora Centre for Environmental Excellence (one of the first Ontario Green Community Initiatives), and was General Manager of Western Arctic Business Development Services, a community Futures organization located in Inuvik NWT. Her unique combination of skills made her the driving force behind the development of Inuvik as a full-service conference destination, and she coordinated the Catch the Spirit 2000 conference and the first annual Inuvik Petroleum Show, bringing over $1 million tourism spending to the Beaufort Delta region.

Since joining Consilium, Patti has played a central role in the development and ongoing achievements of the national Land Claims Agreements Coalition, whose members collectively affect more than half of Canada’s lands, waters and resources. She has conceived, developed and coordinated numerous highly-successful national conferences for clients in the health, academic, professional and Aboriginal sectors, and facilitated strategic planning and training sessions for a variety of non-profit organizations.

In addition to her excellent communication, fund-raising and coordination skills, Patti brings an entrepreneurial approach and inspires creativity in every project she undertakes, always seeking to support clients in building organizational capacity and self-sufficiency.

Patti holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario.
