February 2003

Happy Valentine's Day

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT CONSILIUM… In this corner of our site we’ll be posting notes on new people, new projects, and new online materials you may find interesting. Enjoy, and come back often.

NEW PROJECTS

  • Marcel Mason, Web Weaver and Digital Guru (a much more accurate appellation than "Geek", his chosen self description) will be working in partnership with Terry Rudden on the development of a website for the Nunavut Implementation Training Committee, Consilium's first ever client.

ONGOING PROJECTS

  • Fred, Patti and Terry are continuing to review best cases and interview funders, trainers and industry professionals as they prepare a Nunavut Training Plan to support Inuit employment on DEW Line cleanup sites.

  • The Whiteduck Resources and Consilium evaluation of the Northern Native Broadcast Access and Northern Distribution Programs continues with interviews scheduled with Aboriginal broadcasters, government officials and other stakeholders from across Canada.

  •   Ron Ryan and Leslie Sutherland provided coordination and logistical support to the Aboriginal Human Resource Development Councill of Canada with the organization of a forum held in Ottawa in January, entitled Aboriginal Employment - A Dialogue for Engagement.  The forum provided an opportunity for 55 representatives from the private sector and Aboriginal employment centres to discuss ways of engaging one another  in a variety of partnership models to increase Aboriginal employment needs and to collaborate more effectively to address skills shortages.  The forum was an important element of the national consultation process that has been conducted over the past year in regards to the renewal of the Aboriginal Human Resource Development Agreement (AHRDA) Strategy.

  • Greg and David have completed the second phase of their report on reorganization of the Waswanipi Cree First Nation Government, which was presented to the community's annual general meeting in early January.

  • Dave Boult excited the envy of all Consilium partners and staff when his extra-rapid phone-dialing skills, honed by years of Consilium research and interview work, netted him tickets to the Ottawa Bruce Springsteen Concert. That'll be our Dave, Dancin' in the Dark...

  • Congratulations to Patti Black, who recently became an associate member of the Certified Management Consultants of Canada.

  • Slow month for birthdays (too hot in June?) but what we lack in quantity, we make up for in quality. Happy Birthday to retired Consiliumite Mary Ann Dohler, celebrating on February 9th. Mary Ann has the distinction of sharing her birthday with Carmen Miranda AND Gipsy Rose Lee, two of the century's other great entertainers.

CHECK BACK EVERY MONTH FOR MORE CONSILIUM NEWS, TOOLS, AND GOSSIP.
